Protecting Families and Building Trust
The 18th Ward is home to immigrant families who contribute to our neighborhoods, schools, and local economy. As Alderperson, I will oppose cooperation between local government resources and federal immigration raids. My office will work with community organizations, legal aid groups, and churches to ensure residents know their rights and have access to support services.
-

Safe Streets and Reliable Infrastructure
Residents deserve roads, sidewalks, and alleys that are safe and properly maintained. Infrastructure neglect affects drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and public transportation users throughout the ward.
-

Public Safety Through Prevention and Investment
Safety requires more than emergency response, it requires strong neighborhoods, opportunities for youth, clean public spaces, and community engagement.
-

A Healthier and Quieter Southwest Side
Residents in Ashburn and surrounding neighborhoods are impacted by aircraft noise, rail traffic, industrial activity, and heavy truck routes. Noise pollution affects sleep, learning, and public health.

Putting Tax Dollars Back Into Our Neighborhoods
For too long, the Southwest Side has seen public resources leave while infrastructure and public spaces deteriorate. Community reinvestment means prioritizing local improvements, small businesses, parks, and neighborhood services instead of giving away public funds to outside interests.
Key Actions
Expand support for local small businesses.
Increase funding for neighborhood beautification.
Pursue grants for community development projects.
Invest in youth programs and community centers.
